The Heroes on the Home Front Program recognizes Bayada Nurses’ employees who go beyond the call of duty in serving their clients. According to Office Director Karen Hojda, “Luciano understands that caregiving is more than completing the client’s physical care, but that their minds and souls need stimulation as well. His astute observations are helpful to nursing and staff supervisors when there may be either a physical or emotional status change in a client.” Bertolazzi, who was born in Italy in 1925, has been offering personal care through the King of Prussia office for over two years. During his tenure with Bayada Nurses, Bertolazzi has been a companion and caregiver to other seniors who enjoy sharing stories of their life experiences. “Luciano has the respect, confidence, admiration and friendship of his clients”, says Robin Mingey, staff supervisor. “He brings energy, enthusiasm, inspiration, a positive attitude, a listening ear and a concerned heart to each one of his clients.” Bertolazzi, who actively participates in his church, has also won several medals for his participation in the Senior Olympics. When asked about his being honored as a Hero, Bertolazzi says humbly, “I am touched by the outpouring of kindness and appreciation by everyone. Even if I don’t think I’ve done special things, it is nice to be recognized by your fellow co-workers.” Founded in 1975, Bayada Nurses is an independently-owned home health care agency that provides skilled, rehabilitative and personal care services for pediatric through geriatric clients. Bayada Nurses employs over 10,000 nurses, home health aides, and therapists working from more than 100 offices in 15 states. For more information
