Rehabilitation Conference Highlights
Innovative Techniques and Trends of the Future

August 12, 2005 – Moorestown, NJ – Bayada Nurses will sponsor a rehabilitation conference on Friday, October 7th, designed to bring together professionals from around the globe to exchange ideas and learn about the latest innovative techniques and trends in the rehabilitation industry. The conference, “The Future of Rehabilitation: There’s No Place Like Home”, will offer a variety of industry experts speaking throughout the day and continuing education credits may be earned by attending nurses and social workers. The conference will be hosted at the Trenton Marriott at Lafayette Yard in Trenton, NJ—located at 1 West Lafayette Street—from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We are really excited to bring together such a group of highly-respected individuals to discuss cutting-edge ideas that will benefit everyone involved in the rehabilitation process”, says Mary Ellen Garofalo, RN, BA, CRRN and organizer of the conference. “We have a wonderful day planned with great speakers, four breakout sessions, lunch and a chance for nurses and social workers to exchange ideas and walk away with additional CEUs.”

Conference attendees will be addressed by keynote speaker and spinal cord injury expert Dr. Steven Kirshblum, MD, who serves as Associate Medical Director, Director of Spinal Cord Injury Program and Director of Ventilator Dependent Unit for the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. There will also be four breakout sessions in which attendees will hear industry experts discuss such topics as brain injury, IDD therapy, pediatric long-term ventilation, public resources for rehabilitation professionals and the benefits of rehabilitation at home.

“The response has been fantastic”, says Melissa Burnside, division director at Bayada Nurses. “Along with our own rehabilitation team, we will have a number of wonderful vendors participating who will be on hand to educate our attendees. This may become an annual event!”

Typical rehabilitation cases now managed at home include cardiopulmonary disease, prematurity disorders, neurological disease, musculoskeletal disorders, catastrophic injuries, developmental delays and nutritional dysfunction. This type of highly-technical, skilled care is possible because of the advances in technology over the past twenty years.

Founded in 1975 by J. Mark Baiada, Bayada Nurses is an independently-owned home health care agency that employs more than 10,000 nurses, home health aides, and therapists working from more than 130 offices in 15 states.
